GAFI publishes step-by-step guide to Egypt’s Investment Licensing Platform
Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) on Monday provided investors with step-by-step guidance on using its electronic Investment Licensing Platform, a tool launched last June to simplify the process of obtaining business licences and permits.
The platform allows investors to complete the entire licensing process online.
The authority outlined six steps for investors:
- Register: Sign up on the Digital Egypt platform, create your account on the Investment Licensing Platform, and begin your investment journey.
- Apply: Select your business activity and the required licence, review all requirements clearly, and submit your application.
- Upload: Electronically upload the required documents with ease.
- Track: Monitor the status of your application step by step and interact with it in real time.
- Pay: Settle any applicable fees electronically and securely.
- Receive: Obtain the final licence without repeated visits to different authorities.
The platform provides access to 460 services from 41 government entities, including approvals, permits, and licences. Developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, it aims to cut processing times, reduce paperwork, and improve transparency and governance.
Licences can be issued within 20 working days if all documents are complete, GAFI said. The authority emphasised that the platform aligns with Egypt Vision 2030 by enhancing the investment climate and public service efficiency while encouraging both local and foreign investment. Technical support and inquiries are handled through official channels and a dedicated hotline.
