General Motors Egypt breaks 1m locally produced vehicles mark
General Motors Egypt has reached a significant milestone, becoming the first automotive company in the country to produce one million locally manufactured vehicles.
General Motors Egypt, established 40 years ago, has grown into a leading player in the automotive industry, serving both domestic and international markets. With investments totaling $530 million, the company has created approximately 50,000 direct and indirect jobs.
In addition to meeting local demand, General Motors Egypt has become a key exporter to markets across the Middle East and Africa.
The plant, which produced the millionth vehicle, sources more than 60 per cent of its components locally, reinforcing its commitment to boosting Egypt’s industrial capabilities and supporting the global expansion plans of General Motors.
This achievement highlights the company’s strategic role in Egypt’s industrial landscape and underscores the growing importance of the automotive sector in the country’s economic development.
