German firms lead in energy efficiency investments – EIB

German companies are leading in energy efficiency investments, with about 80 per cent of firms taking measures to improve energy use, according to the European Investment Bank (EIB) reported according to latest Survey.

The report, released today, highlights that German businesses are ahead in adopting digital tools like drones but lag in using the Internet of Things (IoT) compared to other EU nations.

However, investments by German enterprises remain 5 per cent below pre-Covid levels, with firms citing regulatory challenges, financing obstacles, and uncertainty as significant barriers.

EIB Group Vice-President Nicola Beer noted that investments in Germany are rising slowly, with a focus on strengthening supply chain resilience, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and advancing digital innovation.

EIB Chief Economist Debora Revoltella noted that while European companies are advancing in climate and digital initiatives, a more cohesive EU single market is essential for boosting investment.
