German airline Germania operates its first flight to Sharm El Sheikh today after a year of halting flights to Egypt.
Following the crash of Russian plan in Sinai at the end of October 2015, a number of European states suspended their flights to Egypt.
Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad Monday, Tourism Counsellor of Egypt in Berlin, Tamer Marzouk stated that the number of German tourists visiting Egypt reached 440,000 in 2016.
He noted that German authorities removed restrictions imposed on the transfer of check-in luggage on German flights heading to Sharm el-Sheikh in May.
Germania announced that it would resume its flights next winter through operating a flight every Monday from Munich and Düsseldorf to Sharm El Sheikh, Marzouk added.
