Gold hit record high amid US election uncertainty

Gold reached a record high on Wednesday as investors turned to the safe-haven metal ahead of the US presidential election and awaited economic data for insights into the Federal Reserve’s rate policy.

Spot gold prices rose by 0.50 per cent to $2,788.52 per ounce on Tuesday October 28, 2024, at 6:45 GMT, compared to Tuesday’s closing price of $2,774.59. Meanwhile, US gold futures increased 0.70 per cent to $2,800.50, compared to Tuesday’s closing of $2,781.1.
