Gold prices climb on trade tensions

Gold prices climbed above $2,900 per ounce on Monday, buoyed by a declining dollar and concerns about a potential trade war following US President Donald Trump’s warning of retaliatory tariffs.

Spot gold prices increased at 1:04 AM GMT by 0.52 per cent to $2,898.22 per ounce, compared to the previous closing price of $2,883.18.

Meanwhile, US gold futures also rose 0.33 per cent to $2,910.40 per ounce, compared to Friday’s closing of $2,900.7.
