Gold prices in Egypt jumped sharply on Sunday, 1 March 2026, as escalating tensions in the Middle East involving Israel, the United States, and Iran prompted investors to seek safe-haven assets, according to official pricing data.
By 16:04 Cairo time (14:04 GMT), 24-carat gold was trading at 8,685.5 Egyptian pounds per gram, up 725.5 pounds, or 9.1 per cent, from 7,960 pounds on Thursday, 26 February.
Other gold grades posted similar increases.
