Gold prices surge near record highs amid trade war fears

Gold prices rose on Monday, nearing record highs reached in the previous session, as investors turned to the safe-haven asset amid concerns over a potential global trade war following US President Donald Trump‘s new tariff proposals.

Spot gold prices increased at 9:30 AM GMT by 1.36 per cent to $2,900 per ounce, compared to the previous closing price of $2,860.39.

Meanwhile, US gold futures also rose 0.19 per cent to $2,921.89, compared to Friday’s closing of $2,887.6.
