Google declares the names of “Start with Google” winners

Google Egypt, intends to declare tomorrow the 20 nominated idea qualified to the final stage of “Start with Google” competition.

Google’s declaration comes as a preparation to announce the winning idea, which will be awarded 1.2 million EGP by the next May.

This competition was organized by Google for the purpose of selecting the best idea from the 50 presented ideas, as Google targeted – in participation with 20 Egyptian and foreign investment funds – to support the technological and ideas and projects.

Wael El Fakharany – North Africa Regional Google Manager – said that the supervisory committee at the competition has selected 50 ideas in the semi-final stage, as about 4000 ideas was presented within the preparatory stage, when the committee brought about 48 judges to help in the selection process.

El Fakharany clarified that the first stage included the presentation and valuation of ideas, as the company assigned about 20 judges – 3 judges for every idea- and he added that 40% of the ideas came from outside Cairo.

Wael also said that the company assigned directors for every project of the 50 projects, as their responsibility was following the competitors’ projects till the end of the competition, as well as offering their consultations and practical experience to the competitors.
