The Grand Egyptian Museum has signed a strategic partnership with Vodafone Egypt, naming the telecom operator its official and exclusive technology partner, the ministries of tourism and communications said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
The agreement, signed through Legacy for Development and Management, the museum’s service operator, aims to enhance the visitor experience by integrating Egypt’s cultural heritage with advanced digital solutions. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy attended the signing ceremony.
Under the partnership, Vodafone will unify the museum’s operational systems into a single smart platform using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system will manage 19 key operational and administrative functions, including ticketing, access gates, visitor guidance, parking, Wi-Fi, and crowd management, creating a seamless and fully integrated “smart brain” for the museum.
According to the statement, the platform will improve efficiency, cut energy use and reduce the museum’s carbon footprint, supporting Egypt’s environmental sustainability goals. Its flexible design will also allow for future technological upgrades without disrupting operations, offering visitors a modern and seamless experience while preserving Egypt’s ancient heritage.
