Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will visit Egypt Thursday, August 6, to participate in the inauguration of a new Suez Canal waterway, while he will also meet with French President Francois Hollande, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev who will attend the event.
Tsipras, as Ana-Mpa reports, is expected to discuss the current developments in the wider Middle East and bilateral issues with the Egyptian leader in their second meeting in the last few months.
According to government sources, the two leaders will also discuss supporting any effort to stabilize the region. In his meeting with Hollande, the Greek premier will discuss the ongoing negotiations with the country’s lenders, while in his meeting with Russia’s Medvedev, Tsipras is expected to reassure him of Greece’s commitment to the Greek part of the Turkish Stream pipeline. The two leaders will also discuss strengthening bilateral relations.
