Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Spotify podcast has not been renewed for a second season, the streaming company announced with a joint statement with Harry and Meghan’s company on Thursday.
The two parties mutually agreed to part ways, after the podcast, Archetypes, ran for 12 episodes in August 2022.
The contract was estimated to be worth $25 million in 2020, and was one of the major commercial agreements the couple entered after quitting royal duties and moving to the U.S.
Archetypes featured high-profile figures like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey, and tackled stereotypes against women, and went on to win the top podcast award at the People’s Choice Award.
“I loved digging my hands into the process, sitting up late at night in bed, working on the writing and creative, and I loved digging deep into meaningful conversation with my diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning with them. It has been such a labour of love,” said Markle.
Some American media reported that the royal couple failed to meet the productivity benchmark required by Spotify and would not be receiving the full value of the contract.
Since their split from the royal family, Harry and Meghan have signed a multi-million-dollar content deal with Netflix, with Harry signing a contract with Penguin Books, which produced his autobiography, Spare.
