Hill International marks milestones in Egypt’s mega projects as monorail nears launch

US-based Hill International said on Saturday it was proud to have contributed to two of Egypt’s landmark projects — the Grand Egyptian Museum and the East Nile Monorail — as the country nears opening its new capital transit link.

Waleed Abdel Fattah, Hill International’s president for the Middle East and North Africa, said the projects reflect Egypt’s drive towards sustainable development and modern urban growth.

“We are proud to have contributed to the successful completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the East Nile Monorail—two landmark projects that reflect Egypt’s vision for sustainable development.” Abdel Fattah said in a statement.

Hill International provided project management and supervision for both projects, including coordination with local and international partners to ensure global standards in construction, design, and safety.

The East Nile Monorail, a driverless and energy-efficient system, is expected to ease congestion and connect Cairo to its expanding satellite cities. Abdel Fattah said Hill oversaw the project’s implementation “from design through handover,” ensuring timely delivery and integration with Egypt’s smart transport infrastructure.

He added that Hill International’s long-standing presence in Egypt underscores its commitment to knowledge transfer and local capacity building, aligning with the government’s goal of positioning the country as a regional hub for sustainable development.

The company, which also helped manage the completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum — the world’s largest archaeological museum — said it continues to prioritise partnerships with Egyptian authorities and international firms to deliver complex projects meeting global standards.

“The Monorail’s success reflects a strong model of global partnership that enabled knowledge exchange and extensive training for local teams. Egyptian companies executed significant portions of the project alongside international consultants, while government bodies played a vital role in coordinating efforts and overcoming challenges.” Abdel Fattah said. “This collaboration proved the capability of Egyptian talent to deliver world-class infrastructure.”
