Hong Kong’s stock market will be open for an extra half hour, effective Monday, extending daily trade to 5.5 hours in two continuous sessions separated by a 60-minute lunch break. Monday’s changes, which shorten the lunch break by 30 minutes, represent the second round of trading-hour changes announced by the Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. (HK:388) -1.26% (HKXCF) -2.29% in November 2010 intended to lengthen the daily trading time.
Under the amended schedule, Hong Kong afternoon trade will take place from 1 pm to 4 pm (12 am to 3 am U.S. Eastern Standard Time or 1 am to 4 am Eastern Daylight Savings Time), compared to the previous schedule of 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Data have been compiled by Market Watch News.
