Hotel occupancy rates in the popular resort town of Marsa Allam are now at 5 percent following the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, said the head of the Marsa Allam Investors Association, Tarek Shalaby, Al Mal reports.
He doesn’t expect to see a rebound before March of next year as vaccines are rolled out.
Shalaby also noted that tourists coming to Marsa Alam are from Poland, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
Marsa Alam depends by 95 percent foreign tourism yet after the pandemic crisis most of the hotels in the city have become almost empty, he added.
