Human capital key to Suez Canal Economic Zone growth, chairman says

Investing in human capital is essential to sustaining growth and strengthening the Suez Canal Economic Zone’s (SCZONE) position as a global logistics and industrial hub, its chairman said on Monday during a tour of key projects in Port Said.

Waleid Gamal El-Dien inspected facilities in the northern zone, including West Port Said Port, where he reviewed ongoing developments and assessed operational readiness amid geopolitical tensions affecting global shipping routes.

He said workforce development is central to the zone’s strategy to attract foreign investment and localise industry in priority sectors, while reinforcing its role as a hub for ports and logistics services.

Gamal El-Dien also visited the East Port Said Industrial Zone, where he reviewed progress at the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company’s (NERIC) plant. The facility, spanning about 300,000 square metres, is nearing completion and will manufacture electric rail rolling stock.
