I Squared to invest $5b in Asia Pacific by ’27

Global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital plans to invest $5 billion in the Asia Pacific from 2025 to 2027, targeting high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The firm, which manages over $38 billion in assets globally, will deploy funds from its $15 billion global flagship fund and $2 billion growth markets fund raised in 2022, senior partner Harsh Agrawal told Reuters.

I Squared’s expansion in the region reflects increasing investor interest in infrastructure due to urbanisation, rising energy demand, and a growing middle class. The firm aims to invest in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, transport, logistics, and environmental infrastructure, with deal sizes ranging from $150 million to $500 million.

Already active in the region, I Squared plans to open a new office in Seoul this year, adding to its offices in Singapore, New Delhi, Sydney, and Taipei.

Since its founding in 2012, the Miami-headquartered firm has invested nearly $3.5 billion in Asia and the Pacific.

Recent investments include a $370 million partnership with Osaka Gas and Sumitomo Corporation in India’s natural gas infrastructure and the acquisition of Australia’s Rentco last year.
