IMF board approves Egypt’s 4th review, unlocking access to $1.2b – Minister Al-Mashat
The executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the fourth review of Egypt’s economic reform programme, minister of planning said on Monday, paving the way for the country to access a $1.2 billion loan tranche.
Minister of Planning, Rania Al-Mashat, made the announcement at a business sohour by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA), confirming that the approval signifies a critical step in Egypt’s ongoing economic reforms and its collaboration with the IMF.
The disbursement, which is part of a broader $8 billion loan agreement, is expected to support Egypt’s fiscal policies and stabilise its economy. The funds will help bolster Egypt’s foreign reserves and support continued structural reforms aimed at enhancing long-term growth and development.
Minister Al-Mashat expressed confidence in the progress made by the government, highlighting that the IMF’s approval reflects Egypt’s commitment to its economic programme, despite external pressures.
