IMF seen releasing staff report on Egypt’s economic performance today – official
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to release on Tuesday a staff report on Egypt’s economic performance and policies, its executive director Mahmoud Mohieldin told local TV channel on Monday.
According to Mohieldin, the report is not likely to hold any surprises as Egypt’s economy is showing stability since the outbreak of the pandemic and is making significant progress on the government’s reform programme.
On Monday, an IMF delegation praised Egypt’s new three-year programme of structural reforms in a meeting with Egyptian Planning Minister Hala al-Saeed. The fund also commended the country’s alignment with the UN’s sustainable development goals, building on the first phase of the IMF-supported economic reform programme, which was launched in 2016
