India approves 12 new industrial smart cities

India is set to embark on a transformative journey towards becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse with the approval of 12 new project proposals under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved projects worth Rs. 28,602 crore (1 crore equals 10 millions) to establish industrial smart cities in 10 states.

Strategically located along six major corridors, these industrial nodes are designed to foster a vibrant industrial ecosystem and contribute to India’s goal of achieving $2 trillion in exports by 2030.

The NICDP aims to attract investments from both large anchor industries and MSMEs, creating a thriving industrial environment. These cities will play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and enhancing India’s global competitiveness.
