Indian stock markets surged to record highs on Wednesday, mainly driven by energy and oil & gas stocks, overshadowing losses in the metals sector.
The broader Nifty 50 index climbed 0.14 per cent, reaching an all-time high of 23,754.30 points. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex also achieved a record high earlier in the day, hitting 78,338.79, before closing the session 0.4 per cent higher.
