India’s annual consumer inflation rate, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 5.49 per cent in September 2024 compared to the same month in 2023. Rural inflation stood at 5.87 per cent, while urban inflation was at 5.05 per cent.
The increase in inflation rate for September is likely attributed to a high base effect and unfavourable weather conditions, a report by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation showed on Monday.
