India’s CPI inflation eases at 4.75% in May

India’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped to 4.75 per cent year-on-year in May, compared to 4.83 per cent in April, the lowest nationwide inflation rate since May 2023.

Meanwhile, inflation remained higher in rural areas at 5.28 per cent in May compared to 4.15 per cent in urban centres.

The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) eased to 8.62 per cent from 8.75 per cent in April, according to the report.
