India’s factory growth hits 17-yr high in Aug ’25 – PMI

India’s factory activity expanded in August 2025 with the HSBC Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rising to 59.3 from 59.1, marking the sharpest growth in over 17 years, as per an official statement on Monday.

The rise was driven by quicker growth in production volumes, with the pace of expansion the strongest in nearly five years. Firms attributed the improvement to better alignment of supply with demand.

New orders continued to rise strongly, matching July’s rate – the fastest in 57 months – with companies citing buoyant demand and effective advertising campaigns, according to the announcement.
