India’s Inflation down to 3.65% YoY in August 

India’s annual inflation rate reached 3.65 per cent in August 2024, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), marking the second lowest rate in the past five years. The inflation rates for rural and urban areas were recorded at 4.16 per cent and 3.14 per cent, respectively.

The decline in inflation is noted across several categories, including Spices, Meat and Fish, and Pulses and Products. Food inflation for August 2024 was recorded at 5.66 per cent, the second lowest since June 2023, with rural and urban rates at 6.02 per cent and 4.99 per cent, respectively. Tomato saw the most significant changes, with the lowest year-on-year (YoY) inflation rate of 47.91 per cent and a month-on-month (MoM) decrease of 28.8 per cent.
