India’s infrastructure output rebounds in Sep. ’24

India’s infrastructure output rebounded in September 2024, growing 2 per cent year-on-year, driven by strong performances in cement and refined product production. This follows a contraction of 1.6 per cent in August 2024.

Key sectors contributing to the growth included:

Cement: 7.1 per cent year-on-year growth, a significant improvement from the previous month’s decline.

Refined Products: 5.8 per cent year-on-year growth, reversing the previous month’s contraction.

Steel: 1.5 per cent year-on-year growth, although lower than the previous month’s increase.

While coal production increased 2.6 per cent year-on-year, electricity generation declined slightly by 0.5 per cent. Crude oil and natural gas production also contracted, albeit at a slower pace compared to the previous month.
