Indonesia’s Trade Ministry is optimistic about the country’s export prospects, projecting a 9.6 per cent increase in overseas shipments by 2029, an official said on Tuesday. This growth is seen to be driven by increasing global trade.
Fajarini Puntodewi, head of the Trade Policy Agency at the ministry, highlighted the positive trend in exports to countries with which Indonesia has free trade agreements. She expressed confidence in achieving the targeted export growth, citing the ongoing positive momentum in Indonesian exports.
As of September 2024, Indonesia’s cumulative exports reached $192.85 billion, marking a 0.32 per cent year-on-year increase.
Key export products for Indonesia include palm oil, cocoa, coffee, rubber, coal, tin, shrimp, furniture, and other commodities.
