Indonesian govt aims for full waste management by ’29

The Indonesian government announced on Monday that it is on track to achieve full waste management by 2029, as outlined in its 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan.

Indonesia’s Minister of Environment and Forestry, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq highlighted the critical need to close landfills that continue to use open dumping methods in order to reach this goal. He revealed plans to shut down at least 343 such landfills across the country.
