Indonesia’s imports totalled $19.59 billion in November 2024, showing a 10.71 per cent decrease from the previous month but a 0.01 per cent increase from the same period last year, as per a report from the BPS Statistics agency on Monday.
In November 2024, oil and gas imports amounted to $2.57 billion, marking a notable 29.88 per cent decline from the previous month and a 26.32 per cent decrease compared to the same period last year.
Non-oil and gas imports reached $17.02 billion in November 2024, showing a 6.87 per cent decrease from the previous month but a 5.71 per cent increase from the previous year, the report added.
The largest decline was seen in electrical machinery and equipment imports, dropping 15.49 per cent to $404.4 million. On the other hand, imports of sugars and sugar confectionery rose 25.19 per cent to $75.8 million.
China was Indonesia’s top trading partner for non-oil and gas imports in November 2024, with a value of $6.53 billion. Japan and the United States followed with $1.49 billion and $0.76 billion, respectively.
Indonesia’s trade balance recorded a surplus of $4.42 billion in November 2024, primarily driven by a non-oil and gas trade surplus of $5.67 billion. However, a $1.25 billion deficit in oil and gas trade partially offset this surplus.
