Egypt’s Illicit Gains Authority (IGA), led by Yehya Galal- assistant minister of justice for the authority affairs, on Sunday called on the INTERPOL to arrest Samir Ragab, former chairman of the Al-Tahrir Newspaper and Publishing House, who fled to the UAE, on account of illicit gains accusations.
The Illicit Gains Authority has issued before a decision of banning Samir Ragab and his family from liquidating their properties, as well he was banned from travel and his name placed in watch list.
The Cairo Court of Appeals had previously approved the authority’s request to disclose Ragab’s secret bank accounts, as an investigation reportedly found that he possesses a large fortune incommensurate with his reported sources of income.
