Israeli troops break into Al Shifa hospital after gunbattle at the hospital’s gates

Israeli troops stormed Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital, its largest hospital, following what they claimed to be a fatal fight at the gates on Wednesday.

Upon breaking into the hospital, the occupation forces began searching rooms and basement, according to witnesses.

Israeli forces ground operations have been targeting Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza, with claims that Hamas has its headquarters in tunnels beneath the hospital.

According to Gaza officials, many patients, including three newborn babies, were killed in recent days as a result of Israel’s grip on the facility.

“Before entering the hospital our forces were confronted by explosive devices and terrorist squads, fighting ensued in which terrorists were killed,” the Israeli military claims.

The hospital’s staff were hiding as the fighting spread out outside the hospital overnight, surgeon Ahmed El Mohallalati told Reuters.

“So yesterday early evening it started… shooting around the hospital and within the hospital. And the sound was really horrible,” he said.

“And then we realized that the tanks are moving around the hospital. One of the big tanks entered within the hospital from the eastern main gate, and they were, they were they just parked in the front of the hospital emergency department.”

“All kinds of weapons were used around the hospital. They targeted the hospital directly. We try to avoid being near the windows,” he added.

The U.S. said that Israel’s conclusion regarding the hospital was supported by the U.S. intelligence.

According to Hamas, this gave Israel the “green light” to raid the hospital.

Hamas also said that this holds both Israel and U.S. President Joe Biden solely accountable for the attack.
