Italy’s inflation rises in Nov. ’24
Italy’s inflation saw a notable increase in November 2024, with the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rising by 1.6 per cent compared to the same month last year, up from 1.0 per cent in October.
Despite remaining unchanged from the previous month, the annual rise highlights ongoing price pressures in the Italian economy.
The national consumer price index (NIC) also showed no change month-on-month but rose by 1.4 per cent annually, up from 0.9 per cent in October.
The annual increase was driven by higher prices for regulated energy products, non-regulated energy products, processed food, unprocessed food, durable goods, and transport services.
Core inflation rose to 1.9 per cent, while inflation excluding energy reached 2.2 per cent.
Grocery and unprocessed food prices rose by 0.9 per cent month-on-month and 2.6 per cent annually. The zero monthly increase was due to higher prices for regulated energy products , unprocessed foods, processed food, and housing services, offset by a decrease in recreation services.
