Egypt and Japan have signed Saturday a grant agreement worth $154,558 to support smallholder farmers in Dakhla Oasis, 740 km (459.8 miles) from Cairo.
Takehiro Kagawa, Japanese Ambassador in Egypt, has signed the agreement with the Egyptian NGO, New Horizon Association for Social Development (NHASD) during the Japan Food Industries Forum, which took place in Cairo.
The agreement aims to develop cold chain storages for the agricultural products to help farmers grow rice more sustainably and increase their incomes, NHASD chairman Ali Abdel Aal said.
