Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) launched Monday joint Project for Developing Statistical Quality System with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the coming three years.
The project targets strengthening the capacity of CAPMAS for effective management for the 2016 Population and Housing Census in Egypt and other statistical studies.
The project was launched in the attendance of Abu Bakr El Gendy -chairman of CAPMAS- and Shiro Nakasone, senior representative at Jica Cairo Office.
Chairman El Gendy added that the project aims at strengthening and improving the statistical quality to support National Planning, economic, social and development policies in Egypt.
This will be through the development of quality mechanisms in all statistical mechanisms in CAPMAS.
The project also targets enhancing CAPMAS capabilities to manage and implement statistical surveys in an effective way using most advanced IT tools, El Gendy said.
The project’s period is thirty six months and expected to end March 2019.
Moreover, the project includes cooperation in different statistical fields notably technical advice for the census, dispatch high-qualified Japanese statistical experts, sampling and quality control, developing methodologies of current statistics, as well as organizing study visits to Japan for the exchange of statistical expertise, Chairman El Gendy stated.
