Japan’s foreign reserves reached $1,254,898 million at the end of September 2024, a $19,149 million increase from the previous month, the Ministry of Finance announced on Monday.
The reserves consist primarily of securities, valued at $ 938,409 million, followed by deposits at $159,486 million, Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) at $59,593 million, gold at $71,533 million, and the country’s IMF position at $10,841 million.
In addition to the foreign reserves, the Japanese government holds $39,101 million in loans to the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
