Trade between Jordan and Qatar increased by four per cent in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) reported by Jordan News Agency (Petra).
The total trade volume between the two countries reached approximately 448 million Qatari riyals ($123 million) during the first half of this year, compared to 430 million riyals ($118.1 million) in the first half of 2023.
Jordanian exports to Qatar, particularly consumer goods, are driving growth. These exports range from fresh and processed food products to vegetables, fruits, meat, dates, dairy products, poultry, grains, and sweets.
Qatari exports to Jordan consist primarily of various chemical materials, including car oils, fertilisers, and medical solutions. Additionally, aluminum molds, polyethylene, iron rods, and plastic bags are also exported to Jordan.
This recent increase reflects a longer-term trend of growth in Jordan-Qatar trade, particularly fuelled by Qatar’s rising demand for Jordanian food and consumer products. This demand has seen a significant jump in the past two years.
