Khufu pyramid to undergo renovation for a month

The Khufu Pyramid in Giza will undergo renovation for a month, according to the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Soha Bahgat announced on Saturday.

Bahgat also said that this procedure is normal, however, it has not been done for some time. The periodic maintenance process will be done from the inside to help preserve the pyramid, she explained.

The pyramid had been subjected to dust and moisture she said, which is why maintenance must be regularly undertaken.

Egypt has discovered a secret passage inside the pyramid earlier this year, which brought publicity and attention to the pyramid.

According to former Egyptian Antiquities Ministerc “the burial chamber of King Khufu inside the Great Pyramid has not been discovered, but I expect that beneath the secret passage is the burial chamber of King Khufu.”
