King Charles III announced on Wednesday a commitment to planning reform, stating that ministers “will get Britain building” to expedite the development of “high-quality infrastructure and housing.”
The Labour government aims to facilitate the construction of 1.5 million new homes over the next five years, as outlined in its election manifesto.
In addition to housing initiatives, the King emphasised the pursuit of “sustainable growth” through investment in industry, skills, and new technologies. The government also plans to enhance renters’ rights, including measures to end no-fault evictions and provide greater protections for those in rental housing.
