Kuwait, the OPEC producer, is set to issue a new port tender next Tuesday and has invited companies for a meeting on that day, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The country has also set the 27th of August as a deadline for the new bids involving the construction of new facilities in the port.
It is worth mentioning that the port has been under construction for more than two years, according to Al-Qabas newspaper.
According to the newspaper, official sources said the new tenders include the construction of “Protective walls”, buildings, roads and other facilities, with a estimated cost of 300-400 million Kuwaiti dinars ($990 million-1.32 billion).
“The Central Agency for Public Tenders has invited representatives from interested companies to meet on 8 Aug and 27 Aug as a deadline for bidding,” it added.
Once the Port in Bubiyan Island is fully constructed, the country is set to partially commission the port in October.
