Link DSL: No Intention to merge with Noor Internet

Egypt’s Link DSL- a Mobinil affiliated company – has ruled out any merger plans with Noor ADSL for Telecommunications in order to provide high speed internet services.

Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad on Thursday, Yves Gauthier- Mobinil’s Managing director and CEO- said his company would not see merger plans with any internet providers in the current period.

Link DSL is ranked second in providing high-speed internet in Egypt, with market share reaching 24% for fixed internet market and more than 700.000 clients of total 3 million Mobinil customers.

Gauthier added that Link DSL had reached a solution with infrastructure owner Telecom Egypt to provide Link customers with internet services via fiber optical cables.

Gauthier clarified that the turnaround of the agreement would be realised by Link DSL users soon.

He noted that Telecom Egypt would cut off internet services from the big internet providers Vodafone, Etisalat and Link and their customers, due to the infrastructure upgrade and cooper cables replacement with fiber optical.

Meanwhile, Noor for internet services seeks allying with other internet providers in the Egyptian market to compete with Telecom Egypt’s affiliate TEData that controls 63% of the country’s fixed internet market.
