Liverpool thankful to have Egyptian star Salah on his frontline: Klopp
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said on Monday he is thankful to have world class attackers like Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.
“Sadio Mane, Bobby Firmino, Mo Salah – these guys in the last situation were really outstanding,” the German coach Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.
Liverpool was crowned with the UEFA Super Cup last Wednesday after defeating Chelsea 5-4 in the Penalty shootouts after a 2-2 draw.
“They were a constant threat, no matter how tired they were. That’s brilliant and, of course, made the difference. We don’t have to talk about that,” said the 52-year-old coach.
Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool in October 2015, coming from Germany’s Borussia Dortmund. He won with Liverpool the long awaited UEFA Champions League trophy after 14 years of absence, as the Reds defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the 2018-2019 final.
“A lot of times in my life I have had sensational players, [but] not world-class players. Now, thank God I have them and they make the difference. We don’t have to talk about that,” Klopp said.
Salah won the Premier League’s golden boot for two successive seasons. Senegal’s hero Sadio Mane won the Premier League’s golden boot last season as well.
