French president Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday the French assault vessel Tonnerre is heading to the eastern Mediterranean to support hospitals in Gaza.
The vessel will assist hospitals that are struggling to cope with the high number of victims from the Israeli airstrikes.
Macron said the helicopter carrier will help Gazans get access to medicines and care.
Israel has been attacking the Gaza Strip violently for 21 days in a row.
Gaza’s health ministry said on Friday that more than 7,000 Palestinians have been killed in the air strikes and more than 20,000 were injured.
