Maersk expresses readiness to aid Egypt in Gaza reconstruction plans

A.P. Moller–Maersk has expressed interest in supporting Egypt’s efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip, Chairman Robert Maersk Uggla said on Saturday during a meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, according to a presidential statement.

Uggla said East Port Said could play a strategic role in facilitating reconstruction operations. He also thanked Sisi for Egypt’s leadership in brokering the Gaza ceasefire and hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, saying the initiatives have contributed to regional stability and secure navigation in the Red Sea.

The Maersk chairman reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), describing it as the world’s most critical maritime route for global supply chains. He praised the Authority’s upgraded services for transiting vessels and said the company’s expanding investments reflect confidence in Egypt’s economic stability.

SCA Chairman Osama Rabie welcomed the ongoing partnership, confirming plans to expand joint projects aimed at supporting the national economy and strengthening Egypt’s position as a global logistics and maritime hub.
