The first phase of the Magdi Yacoub Rwanda-Egypt Heart Centre was inaugurated on Monday. The new project marked a major step in the development of the regional medical facility. Moreover, The centre is set to become a leading institution for heart treatment in East and Central Africa.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Atty highlighted that the centre, a joint effort between Egypt and Rwanda, will provide world-class medical care, expressing gratitude to Dr Yacoub for his vision, which dates back to 2018.
“The Rwanda Heart Care and Research Foundation will offer state-of-the-art, free-of-charge medical services, particularly for the under-privileged, whilst training a generation of young doctors, nurses, and scientists at the highest international standards,” said Dr Yacoub.
