Malaysia’s capital market surges 5.6% in ’23
Malaysia’s capital market saw a notable expansion of 5.6 per cent in 2023, reaching a valuation of MYR 3.8 trillion (US$800 billion), Xinhua reported on Monday.
The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) attributed the growth to the increased market capitalisation and the performance of bonds and Sharia-compliant sukuk.
While equity and corporate bond fundraising witnessed a decrease to MYR 127.7 billion, the fund management sector soared to new heights, with assets under management at MYR 975.5 billion, owing to favourable valuations.
Looking ahead, the SC reaffirms its dedication to nurturing the capital market and fostering a sustainable, low-carbon economy.
Additionally, a new roadmap is set to be unveiled, aimed at enhancing capital market access for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
