Egypt MCIT Eyes 10% Growth Rates By FY 2013-2014

Eng. Atef Helmy , Egypt’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister, said the targeted growth rates in ICT sector for the fiscal year of 2013-2014 are 10%, pointing out that the sector is expected to achieve rates ranging between 5.8 – 6% by the end of this fiscal year.

Moreover, Helmy added on the sidelines of the press conference which was held on Tuesday that the growth rates contributed by (ICT) sector in the Gross National Product (GNP) are about 3.2%, explaining that the sector targets 4.1% contribution rate during the next fiscal year.

The minister has further referred to the manpower element as being one of the most important issues that yield high returns for the ICT sector, noting that the FY/ 2013-2014 will provide 10.000 direct jobs opportunities as well as 40.000 indirect job opportunities.
