The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services – Mobinil – (EMOB.CA) has recently announced launching a major project to rationalize no less than 30% of the energy used in its network, as part of its efforts to protect environment and national resources.
The project, that extends to 2015, aims to lower the company’s consumption of various source of energy, including electricity and diesel used for running generators.
Yasser Shaker, Vice President for Technology at Mobinil, said the project will also cut greenhouse gas emissions by 30 thousand tpa.
Rana Abbadi, VP, Quality & Corporate Support at Mobinil, emphasized on the company’s deep interest in the project as Mobinil seeks to add it to Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Mobinil aims to be the firm mobile telecommunication company in Egypt to make such a project, Abbadi added.
