Mohamed El-Sagheir signed his first book entitled “Ayam Min Omry”.
The book narrates the story of El-Sagheir’s 50-year career life.
The book signing ceremony took place at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, in the presence of journalism, art, and media figures in addition to businesspersons.
This is the first time for an Egyptian and even Arab hairstylist narrating his story in a book. El-Sagheir’s autobiography has been translated into English and French under the auspices of high-profile international cosmetics companies. There have been famous hairstylists from Paris and London who already wrote their own stories in books.
Furthermore, the ceremony included many surprises, notably the announcement of a new foundation by Mohamed El-Sagheir for community development. The new foundation aims to present multiple community-based services in various fields.
A cooperation protocol was signed, during the ceremony, between Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation and Mohamed El-Sagheir’s new foundation. The signing of the protocol was in the presence of Anissa Hassouna – Executive Director of Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation.
Returns on El-Sagheir’s book will be donated to Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in favor of Aswan Heart Center Project (AHC).
From his part, Mohamed El-Sagheir expressed his joy to sign his first book “Ayam Min Omry”, and said: “In this book, I just wanted to write about my life not a story of my life. I wanted to write about what I have witnessed and gone through since I started to work as a hairdresser at age of eight years old holding scissors, brushes, and combs for my uncle. At that stage, I used by the end of the day after working for 15 hours to sweep the small hairdresser shop overwhelmed by joy and pride.”
“I remember with happiness and pride every single day of my life, the jobs I worked for, each lesson I learned, each penny I gained, and every new life event occurred in my life, and the people I have met. I dedicated my book for the youth who dream of a better new future, for my son Moustafa and my daughter Maha. I want them to know that my path was tough but worth sacrifice. I am writing for my colleagues working in the same profession to make them feel proud of their work that loves, creates, and spreads beauty.”
Mohamed El-Sagheir, who worked with his uncle at age of 12 years old, did not expect to gain such fame and success. He chose this work just like many others who inherited professions from their families. Yet, he was unlike the others; El-Sagheir’s sheer passion for the profession has helped him to become a professional hairdresser at age of 16 years old.
Aiming to contribute to the development of hairdresser profession in Egypt, El-Sagheir decided at age of almost 20 years old to travel to Paris and work for one of the most famous hairdressers in France, Alexandre de Paris.
After spending six years in Paris, El-Sagheir returned to Egypt to work again with his uncle; the one who taught him the principles of hair styling. At early 1980s, he decided to inaugurate his own beauty center.
