Morocco’s CPI down by 0.2% in July

Morocco’s consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 0.2 per cent in July, driven by a 0.5 per cent drop in the food index, despite a 0.1 per cent increase in the non-food index. Significant price declines were observed in vegetables, milk, cheese, and eggs, while fish and seafood prices surged.

Regionally, the CPI fell most in Errachidia and Safi but increased in Laayoune and Beni-Mellal. Compared to July 2023, the CPI grew by 1.3 per cent, with housing and utilities seeing the largest non-food price increases. During the same period, Morocco’s core inflation indicator rose by 0.1 per cent from the previous month and by 2.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY).
