MWC ’25: Egypt, ZTE discuss digital infrastructure cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat held a meeting with ZTE President and CEO, Li Zixue, and senior executives of the Chinese telecom giant to discuss future cooperation in digital infrastructure and capacity building, the Egyptian Cabinet reported on Tuesday.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, reviewed ZTE’s ongoing work on two training labs at the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI)  and its efforts to commence local manufacturing of select products in Egypt, as per agreements signed last September.

Discussions also covered ZTE’s projects to enhance Egypt’s telecom infrastructure, its plans to expand operations by training and employing Egyptian talent, and the establishment of a research and development centre to support projects across Africa.
